Raised beds involve power tools, lifting, treated or untreated lumber, and soil or amendments whose suitability varies by site. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for any tool, wear appropriate protection, and check with your local extension service on soil, compost, and anything you intend to grow food in. What is safe in one yard is not automatically safe in another.
